12h

Le séminaire d’Iva MOZGOVÁ (Institute of Plant Molecular Biology, Czech Republic) aura lieu dans la salle Favard, IBENS 46 rue d’Ulm 75005 Paris

Summary :
Epigenetic repression by Polycomb, and particularly Polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2), has been mainly connected to cell identity specification and development in multicellular eukaryotes. PRC2 is nevertheless commonly found also in unicellular species across eukaryotic supergroups, suggesting its deep evolutionary origin and questioning its ancestral function and evolution.
We are interested in the crosstalk between developmental and metabolic cell identity in context of environmental response, and the role of PRC2 in it. I will focus on seedling establishment in Arabidopsis, during which plants undergo a crucial developmental and metabolic transition. Through transcriptomic and H3K27me3 reprogramming of source and sink tissues, we could identify primary metabolic genes and pathways moderated by PRC2 during seedling establishment. Having observed similar metabolic/developmental phenotypes upon PRC2 depletion in the moss P. patens, we ask how PRC2 evolved within the green lineage and whether regulation of primary metabolism by PRC2 may evolutionarily conserved.
