Engineer Position in Plant Genetics and Molecular Biology

Location : Institut de Biologie de l’Ecole Normale Supérieure (IBENS), 46 Rue d’Ulm, Paris

Lab webpage : http://www.ibens.ens.fr/spip.php?rubrique31

Description : An engineer position in Genetics and Molecular Biology is available at the Institut de Biologie de l’Ecole Normale Supérieure. The appointment will be made for 18 months, starting, ideally, on the 1st of September 2019.

The main research objective is to understand the mechanisms by which plants counteract pathogen-mediated suppression of RNA silencing. For this purpose, a forward genetic screen has been initiated in Arabidopsis to identify plant factors that negatively regulate RNA silencing and immunity at the level of stomata. As part of this project, the engineer will be working on the molecular characterization of some candidate genes retrieved from this screen. He/She will be working in close collaboration with a scientist and use molecular, cellular biology and genetics approaches.

Qualification : Master or engineer diploma in molecular biology. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in molecular, cellular biology and genetics. Experience in biochemistry would also be an asset. Expertise in handling Arabidopsis plants would be appreciated but not mandatory.

Application details : Applicant should send their CV, the names and contact of at least two referees to Gersende Lepère (gersende.lepere chez ens.fr) and Lionel Navarro
(lionel.navarro chez ens.fr).
